As a teacher, you know the importance of a good vocabulary and
using the right technical terms for the right things. So it's important
that you keep your own vocabulary up to date when it comes all the
different new pieces of classroom technology. You need to know your Java
from your jpegs and your blogs from your browsers.

Learning in 3D : Technology puts students at the center of the educational action
Entertaining in three dimensions isn't new. But it's become all the rage in the consumer space in recent years, with filmmakers frequently delivering their movies in action-packed, seat-gripping 3D.
Having noticed that young audiences love the realism of 3D, schools are beginning to incorporate the technology into their classrooms, reasoning that anything that actively engages students and increases their motivation to learn is a great thing. To meet demand, product manufacturers and content developers are rolling out 3D-ready TVs, projectors, cameras, editing software and curricula.

The Future of Education: Tablets vs. Textbooks
The federal government, book publishers and
the technology industry are considering a large-scale effort to push
tablets into public schools, raising questions about hidden costs to
implement such a program.
Apple, Intel and McGraw Hill representatives joined other technology and publishing heavy hitters to meet with Federal Communications Commission chairman Julius Genachowski and Education Secretary Arne Duncan last week to discuss a FCC report indicating tablets can save $3 billion a year, garnering discussion about most effective ways to introduce digital technology into the emerging classroom.

New YouTube Channel for Teachers and Tutors
Online technology resources are becoming an increasingly important
part of education, both in the classroom setting and in tutoring
sessions. As part of the online community’s growing attention to the
needs of educators, YouTube recently launched an online channel for teachers, where you can upload, watch and share videos free of charge.
The YouTube Teachers channel invites you to “spend more time teaching, less time searching. This well-organized channel “was created to help teachers use educational YouTube videos to educate, engage and inspire their students.” Educators are invited not only to access the wealth of existing content, but also to submit a playlist of videos “that aligns with a given standard” (generally common core standards).
